About WFAC

How it started

SWT Quality Fasteners Inc. has been in business since December of 1982 and there have been a lot of people along the way who have helped make the company as successful as it is today. The founders, Larry and Jill Matula, have always believed in giving back to the community that has given them so much. Faith and family are a way of life with them and at most family gatherings a game of washers is inevitable. Combining washers with community service was an obvious pairing for Larry and Jill once it was suggested at a company picnic. Washers for a Cause is now in its 12th year and has been more successful with each passing year. Over the past 9 years, Quality Fasteners has been able to raise and donate over $98,000 to the San Antonio Children’s Shelter. Besides the washers tournament there is also a silent auction that we are soliciting local businesses for contributions, donations and event sponsors. 100% of funds raised go directly to help feed and clothe the children of the shelter.

Who it supports

This year’s Washers for A Cause event is supporting The Children’s Shelter of San Antonio. The Children’s Shelter provides 24-hour temporary emergency care for up to 66 children per day, aged from birth to 16 years old, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment, and/or neglect. This will be the seventh year supporting The Children’s Shelter. We hope to continue supporting great organizations like these for years to come with everyone’s support.
